The Houses pattern is nearing completion, so I thought I’d show you the little gift that will come with it. Printable pictures you can use as gift tags or for your own records. Just like the birdy labels I posted earlier, they have garment care symbols that you can fill in yourself.
The new website is also coming along, slowly and quietly like the snow, and a very cold summerhouse has decided my next project for me. Wait and see!

It’s difficult to ignore the negative connotations of the words ‘designing’, ’scheming’, and ‘calculating’ when you’re knee-deep in writing up a pattern. I certainly wouldn’t appreciate being labelled with any of these words, but I have been occupied in them nevertheless. It strikes me that some schematic templates for basic knitted items wouldn’t go amiss either, since it’s a bit fiddly drawing them neatly, though not particularly difficult. In the meantime, my boyfriend’s opinion on garment ease brought me a smile: ‘it’s nice if there’s room for two’. Aww.
This post is in celebration of the last row of Houses, a simple slipover knitted in the round, and the last line of Close Knit, the novel I have been writing for National Novel Writing Month. I wrote my 50,000th word while wearing the newly finished and blocked Houses Slipover (or vest if you prefer), and I can vouch for its cosiness. It is knit in 4 ply wool, as I have mentioned before, which makes it thin and drapey, while warm, and perfect for layering. I am in love. I have yet to finish writing up the pattern, mainly because I started thinking about pattern design, but it will be available very soon. That said, I am finally beginning to knit and write up designs I have had in my mind and in my notebooks for months, or in some cases for years. They will be available as PDF downloads, and grouped into ever-changing collections. The first collection will be knit in greys, blacks, whites and lilac accents.
