Yarn Haul: Ice Yarns

I often get asked about Turkish yarns, and since this giant, puffy bag of yarn landed on my doorstep today, I thought I’d shoot a quick video. Ice Yarns is an online yarn company based in Istanbul that ships all over the world. Their yarns are very reasonably priced and sell for as low as $1.99 for a pack (they don’t sell single skeins). Depending on where you live, you may end up paying more for shipping than for the yarns themselves, but from the comments on their website it looks like most people still consider them good value for money. Please don’t take my word for it though, and do your own research! On to the yarns…

  1. How lovely! My favourite has to be the Silk. It’s so pretty. Thanks for the review. I’ve been tempted by their offers before but never had the courage to go through with a purchase of what might be poor quality yarn. I think I might give it a go next time I need a large quantity and I can’t afford UK yarns!

I love Silk too. :) And I agree, I think they’re a good deal if you need a big batch of yarn, for a blanket maybe, or a big jumper.

I’d definitely be interested in hearing what you think of it once you use it!

I love your yarn review. Thank you so much for sharing! The yarn looks very tempting indeed and the what a beautiful pink that is!

What a lovely idea, I enjoyed that! Thanks for sharing your haul :) i’ve always been curious about the quality of ice yarns but I think you’ve convinced me to give them a go. Beautiful!

My favourite part of knitting magazines is usually the yarn review, and your video was so lovely in that it gave me a much more thorough impression of the yarn than a simple photo and text description. Thank you very much for making it. I’m quite curious about visiting the Ice Yarns website after watching, and I hadn’t heard of the brand before.

I do look forward to future yarn reviews from you. All the best with your new haul :)

Thank you for your delightful comment, Holly. I will certainly try to shoot more hauls when I get yarn I like. I suppose I’d better work through some of my stash first though! :)

I checked out the website after seeing your review and ordered 4 packs of various yarn. It arrived on Tuesday after ordering late on Sunday and they even changed the delivery address to my workplace, when I realised I wouldn’t be home. The yarn is amazing!! Ridiculous value for money and its so soft! Now I just need to find some patterns and work out how to knit lace, any advice?

    Thank you for the recommendation!

I enjoyed your review. I just became an ICE yarn reseller.

Has anyone had a problem ordering? I can’t get the order to complete and hesitate to try again to avoid multiple charges to my card.

  10. […] knit the patterns as given, the pink shawl requires: 480m / 525yds of 4ply-weight yarn. I used the Ice Yarns Pure Alpaca I hauled here. And the grey shawl requires: 750m / 820yds of DK-weight yarn. I used Nako Süper Saf Yün. I just […]

I’d love to hear what this yarn is/was like to work with? I received my first order today and am considering ordering some Pure Alpaca for a winter blanket. I’m just worried it won’t be as soft as my current go to yarn.

Well I have to say, I am loving you site. It’s by far my new favorite. You’re clear and concise writing style makes life much easier for a relatively new knitter.

I started at “All About Knitting in the Round” (trying to tackle my first DPN project) and have been going from there. I’ll be parked on your site all morning I think.

In reference to this article/post, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ice’s yarns. I found a store on Ebay called Yarn Paradise (from Turkey, loved that post too) and they have hundreds of great deals on yarn, Ie being most of the product brand. I just ordered 10 rolls of a Rose Pink Kid Mohair (70% Kid) extra fine for $17.00 (thats with shipping). I have bought from them several times now and I am never disappointed.

Looking for Wizz Aran yarn #58346, shade 1307. Do you carry this….thanks. Linda

  14. Jonathan says:

I find that Ice Yarn looks lovely but doesn’t live up to itself in terms of wear and also some yarns are missold. I bought an alpaca chain yarn that claimed to be a bulky weight. When it arrived it was thinner than a double knit. When I complained the company were less an helpful and wouldn’t do anything unless I returned it at my own expense. Because they are outside the EU for UK consumers you have no consumer protection. I wouldn’ t order again and wanted to warn your readers.

Thanks for the heads up, only saw positive reviews but now ill keep reading other site reviews before making my decision.

Every place I go that speaks of Ice Yarn, you have left the same comment!

I too, have purchased many different types of yarn from Ice, and I love the yarn! It works up beautifully and lays nice once finished. Every yarn I have purchased from them is as advertised and very beautiful.
