I made these to accompany my Mum’s birthday gift. Perhaps you’ll find them handy? Especially if you’ve forgotten that it’s Mothering Sunday this weekend, which I’m sure you haven’t! There are two gift tags and a card which you can print out and customise.

You can use an image-editing program to add text to the front of the card, although I think some ink calligraphy would make the whole thing look more hand-painted and less inkjet-printed. Print them on cardstock if you can, and if you’re like me and diligently save tiny lengths of leftovers, use them for the tie.

Doodling with watercolours is almost as relaxing as knitting, as long as you don’t try too hard. I’ve particularly been enjoying this ebook: Fearless Watercolours.

Here’s another way to use your gift tags. These little roses are shockingly simple to create for last-minute gifts, party favours or just for yourself. I have prepared a post about them for tomorrow so don’t miss it! :)

Anyone knitting mittens for Christmas? I’m going to be knitting these beautiful Chawton Mittens by Anne Blayney when I get half a chance. At the moment I’m too busy creating a few last minute goodies for you. These gift tags are my first offering. Cut them out, fold them over and then attach them to your Christmas gifts. As usual, you can fill in the care symbols according to the directions on your ball-band, so that your recipient knows how to take care of their beautiful hand-wrought gift.

Now that I have written my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo, I’m finally catching up on comments. Many apologies for being so late, but I hope the Christmas gifts I have planned will somewhat make up for my tardiness. :(

And because I realised that I haven’t held a giveaway in ages, I’m going to be giving a copy of the (printable!) Calendar to two random members of the Laylock Designs group on Ravelry every week until the end of the year. Yay!

I’ve also been playing around with knit “patterns” of another kind recently, and they developed into these gift tags. Small hearts and kisses in stitches & knitting needles. Like my birdy labels, and the labels that come with the Houses Slipover, they have empty care symbols that you can fill in according to the yarn you’ve used for your gift. The tags are now licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 UK: England & Wales License, but I would like to ask that you link to this blog post rather than directly to the PDF. A few tips:

Fold & glue the tags before cutting them out. Less cutting!
I find the tags are firm enough when printed on regular printer paper & then folded, however, you could also print them on card. Check your printer manual for help.
You could fold the tags, but leave them unglued & use the inside for extra space to write your message.
Punching holes in the right spot takes a bit of practice! ;)
You could also use these tags to label swatches!

The countryside is as beautiful and muddy as ever. I can hear my latest batch of neighbours being unloaded as I write. Baa-aa.
